What happens when a check is escalated to Admin?

A reviewer who cannot settle a flagged check can hand it to the workspace's Owner and Admins. They record the outcome Escalate to Admin with a note, the check stays open, and only an Owner or Admin can then clear it or confirm the match. Escalation is a hand-off inside VerityRadar; it is not a report to a regulator.

It is available on Company and Enterprise accounts. An Individual account has no Owner or Admin to hand a check to, so the option is not offered there.

The steps

Who can do what

RoleEscalate a checkSettle an escalated check
OwnerYesYes, including a check they escalated themselves
AdminYesYes, including a check they escalated themselves
AnalystYes, and may add another escalation with new informationNo
ViewerNo, a Viewer reads reports and history onlyNo
Individual accountNot offeredNot applicable

Anyone else who tries to settle an escalated check is told: "Escalated to Admin - only an Owner or Admin can settle this check." An Analyst opening an escalated check sees the history and "Escalated to Admin - waiting for an Owner or Admin" instead of the Cleared and Confirmed match options.

What the person who escalated sees

The check stays in their History with its escalated flag. It no longer counts in their own awaiting-review tile or queue, because they cannot settle it. Owners and Admins keep it in theirs until it is settled.

What is kept

Decisions are never edited or deleted. Each one is added to the history on the report: the outcome, the note, who recorded it and when, with the latest one in force. The same history appears in the PDF report and in the examiner export, where an escalation reads Escalated to Admin.
