How do I read the risk rating and the review flags?
The rating is calculated by fixed rules from the severity of the individual findings, so the same findings always produce the same rating. The highest-severity finding sets the band and the others add points within it. A report with no risk-bearing findings reads None identified.
The score bands are:
- Critical 90-100
- High 70-89
- Medium 40-69
- Low 10-39
- No risk-bearing findings 0
Each check carries one of these results:
- On list - the subject is on the list the check covers.
- Adverse finding - relevant information that is not a list entry, such as a court case or a news report.
- Possible match - a record that may be the subject but is not confirmed; confirm it before relying on it.
- Needs review - the check could not be completed and must be confirmed by hand.
- Could not verify - the check failed.
- No adverse records - the check ran and found nothing adverse.
- Not applicable - the check does not apply to this subject.
A manual review flag is raised when the subject could not be matched with certainty (to a register record, or for a ship by its IMO number), when any finding is critical, when a sanctions or owner screen could not be completed, or when sanctioned owners hold stakes that are unknown or below the 50% control threshold. A review flag never lowers the rating.
